Genesys Voice Platform
Genesys Voice Platform (GVP) is a software-only, standards-based voice portal that provides cost-effective customer interactions, 24x7, for businesses using voice, video, the web, and the cloud. Functioning beyond traditional IVR systems, GVP provides touch-tone access to applications and incorporates speech recognition technology and video for conversational exchanges, better to identify and resolve customer requests. [+] DETAILS
GVP employs a VoiceXML-based media server for network service providers and enterprise customers. GVP is an IP-based award winning self-service system. GVP comes with Genesys Media Server and can provide media services simultaneously with VoiceXML self-service applications.
Media services available with GVP are call parking, call qualification, Call Progress Detection, third party call recording support, call conferencing, and audio/video streaming. So GVP can be used to provide augmented routing and agent services in addition to self-service applications, proactive contact solutions and outbound calling media. docs.genesys.com
Telephony
GVP directly supports RTP/VoIP network connections using SIP. GVP supports TDM/PSTN connections through the use of third party media gateways, allowing the use of T1, E1, T1CAS, E1CAS and ISDN signaling.

[+] Deploy with GAX, not with GAIMPORTANT! Functionality for deploying Genesys Voice Platform components to remote and local hosts has been discontinued in Genesys Administrator as of version 8.1.303. This functionality is now available in Genesys Administrator Extension; please refer to documentation for Genesys Administrator Extension for details.
[+] Red Hat Enterprise Linux Performance Tip
GVP 8.1.7 and above support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6. However, GVP components run at lower capacities on RHEL 6.x, as compared to RHEL 5.x when using ext4. Thus, expect the best performance from GVP while using RHEL 5, or using RHEL 6 with ext3.

Genesys Voice Platform 8.5.x Release Advisories
[+] GVP 8.5.0 Release AdvisoryGVP 8.5.0 Release Advisory
Link to 8.1 Product Release Advisory
The following information applies to Genesys 8.5.x software and is important for you to note:
Genesys follows applicable third-party redistribution policies to the extent that Genesys solutions utilize third-party functionality. For specific information about any third-party software used in this product, see the Read Me. Contact your Customer Care representative if you have any questions.
Sometimes while using Genesys Interaction Recording (GIR), you may see a message similar to Recv failure: Connection was reset in MCP logs when you try to post recording files to Amazon S3, and fail.
Workaround: Configure the MCP configuration parameter [fm].http_proxy to be empty (containing no value), to disable SQUID/proxy server caching. (GVP-20940)
The Resource Group Wizard in Genesys Administrator has a limitation which prevents you from adding more than two levels of child tenants (child and grandchild) below the parent tenant. You can work around this issue by completing the following steps:
- In the
Tenant:field at the top of the Genesys Adminstrator GUI, browse to select the tenant to which you want to add the child and grandchild tenants by clicking the browse button.
- In the
Provisioning > Voice Platform > Resource Groupspane, clickNewto launch the Resource Group Wizard.
- Complete the steps in the wizard, as required.
For more information about how to use the Resource Group Wizard, see Framework 8.1 Genesys Administrator Help. (ER# 258940284)
When installing or upgrading Reporting Server, you must modify the Oracle scripts prior to execution, otherwise some scripts will produce errors. To resolve this issue, remove any unmatched trailing parentheses in the following scripts:
oracle-schema-upgrade-812-813-partitioned.sqloracle-schema-upgrade-811-812-ent.sqloracle-schema.sql
For example, change SELECT custom_vars_seq.nextval, CSID, SESSION_ID, SEQUENCE_ID, COMP_ID, START_TIME, APP_ID, NAME, VALUE) to SELECT custom_vars_seq.nextval, CSID, SESSION_ID, SEQUENCE_ID, COMP_ID, START_TIME, APP_ID, NAME, VALUE
This issue was corrected in the 8.1.4 release of Reporting Server. (ER# 262024867).
HTTP Digest Authentication is supported for the Conversation Manager Solution.
Live upgrades, in-service migration, and mixed modes are supported across GVP 8.x versions.
If a child tenant is assigned a Logical Resource Group (LRG) by its parent tenant, and then is moved within the hierarchy, the LRG remains assigned until the assignment is manually removed. (ER# 247518907)
In multi-tenant deployments, child tenant users must be given logon access to Genesys Administrator before they can view and download their reporting data. You can grant access to child tenants by completing the following tasks, the procedures for which can be found in Framework 8.0 Genesys Administrator Help:
- Create a new tenant by using the
Manually Creating New Tenantsprocedure.
You can view the newly created tenant, in theprovisioning > Environment > Tenantspanel. If you do not see the new tenant immediately, log out and log back in again. - Create a new user by using the
Creating Usersprocedure. - Add the new user to a group by using the
Add Users by Using the Task Panelprocedure. - Create a new role, add the new user to the role, and assign permissions by using the information in the
Users: Overviewsection. - Select
Environment > Applications, double-click thedefaultapplication, and grantReadandWritepermissions to the user. - Logout of Genesys Administrator and log in again as the new user.
For optimal performance, Genesys recommends a maximum number of 750 tenants per multi-tenant deployment.
The GVP User Interface (GVPUI) in Genesys Administrator provides scaling options for multi-site reporting by aggregating reports from multiple independent Reporting Servers, allowing administrators to view an aggregation of data across multiple sites.
In some instances, the Media Server might not be able to play prompts on Linux. To work around this issue, add the machine’s IP address to the /etc/hosts file, and then restart the Media Control Platform. For example:
127.0.0.1 localhost localdomain.localhost172.32.45.66 machine1.domain.com machine1
(ER# 218690361)
Genesys recommends using static IP addresses for all GVP machines. This applies to both Windows and Linux.
