Preparing for your Web Services and Application migration

How do I preserve my data through the migration?

We recommend to backup Cassandra data before a migration. Data is kept in place during a migration, therefore, you don't need to perform any special action for keeping existing data through a migration. In the event of a failed migration, it is necessary to rollback to the previous version. For this reason, we recommend taking a Cassandra snapshot before starting the migration.

Instructions how to take a snapshot depends on which Cassandra version is in use and can be obtained here:

How do I preserve customization through the migration?

We recommend making a backup of the existing configuration before you perform a migration. Migration between 8.5.1 and 8.5.2 includes a transition to embedded Jetty that uses different configuration files. The GWS service can be configured from scratch; therefore, there is no automated migration of customizations. A different configuration files are used in 8.5.2, so existing customizations for 8.5.1 are maintained.
