Preparing for your Web Services and Application migration

How do I preserve my data through the migration?

We recommend that you backup Cassandra data before a migration. Data is kept in place during a migration, therefore, you don't need to perform any special action for keeping existing data through a migration. In the event of a failed migration, your data backup is necessary when you rollback to the previous version. For this reason, we recommend taking a Cassandra snapshot before starting the migration.

Instructions how to take a snapshot depends on which Cassandra version is in use and can be obtained here:

Do I need to back up customizations before a migration?

You don't need to perform create a backup of your customizations before a migration. Migration from 8.5.2.09 includes a transition to embedded Jetty. This creates a new set configuration files; therefore existing customizations for 8.5.2.09 are maintained. The GWS service must be configured from scratch. For more information, see transition to embedded Jetty.
