Users and User Authentication

New section

This section describes how Genesys Intelligent Automation ensures that only authorized users access Intelligent Automation environment specifically, and the Genesys software environment generally.

In this case, the term authorized means not only that the user is authenticated (who he or she say he or she is, via password and username) and has the right permissions (known commonly as Read, Write, Execute, and so on) to access an object, but is also authorized (has the right privileges--add, create, modify, and so on) to perform actions on those object.

For more information about user authentication and authorization, refer to the User Authentication and User Authorization section of the Genesys Security Deployment Guide.

Users

Users created in Intelligent Automation are not subject to any external authentication engines, such as Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) or Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS). All authentication is done in Intelligent Automation; and all authorization is implemented through Intelligent Automation Roles.

Starting in release 9.0.004.xx, Intelligent Automation can also work with users created in Genesys Administrator and stored in the Configuration Database. If the External Authentication feature is enabled on Configuration Server, these users are subject to authentication by either LDAP or RADIUS. Independent of that feature, the users are also subject to Role-Based Access Control as defined by Configuration Server. For information about how user authentication and authorization is implemented at the Configuration Server level, refer to the Object-Based Access Control (authentication) and Role-Based Access Control sections of the Genesys Security Deployment Guide.

Creating Users

To create Users in Intelligent Automation, see the Users page in the [https://enu.docs.genesys.com/Documentation/GAAP/latest/iaHelp/Welcome Intelligent Automation Help file.

To create Users in Genesys Administrator, refer to the [[Documentation:GA:user:Agents|Agents] and/or Users (Persons)Users section of the Genesys Administrator Extension Help file.
