Installation Environment Prerequisites

Before you start the installation, ensure that the environment meets the following prerequisites:

GRE and GRAT

  • Web application server
    • JBOSS 7.1.1 only
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server 7.0 and 8.5
    • Tomcat 6 and 7
    • GRE and GRAT are compiled on Java SDK 7. This enables these components to stay current and to take advantage of additional features available in Java 7, as well as security fixes and performance improvements. As a consequence, GRE and GRAT release 8.5.1 no longer support running on a JAVA 6 JRE.

If you are using Genesys Composer on the same host on which you will be installing the application server for GRAT or GRE, ensure that Composer's embedded instance of Tomcat is not using the same port as the Genesys Rules System application server.

Important
Known Limitation in 8.5.001—GRAT and GRE installers support installation of Red Hat Linux 64-bit platforms only when RHEL 6 compatibility packs for 32-bit platforms have been installed. You might also need to ensure that the JAVA_HOME variable points to the correct JDK.

Genesys Rules Development Tool

Eclipse version 3.5.0 or higher and/or Genesys Composer (minimum version 8.1.0) must be installed. Refer to the Genesys Supported Operating Environments Reference Guide for a complete list of the application servers, operating systems, and databases that are supported. Consult your application server documentation for information about memory and CPU.
